About the Artist
Hello, my name is Janice Agosto. I am currently a student at Old Dominion University. I am an International Communications major and Studio Arts minor.
Most of my work are inspired from Japanese style art. I like to play with color and movement in my paintings in order to depict how music sounds. In each of my paintings, I try to portray a piece of music that I am inspired by. My choices in music vary from culture to culture, however the overall aesthetic is predominantly in the Japanese style.
I decided to major in Communications rather than Studio Art because I realized the reason I even enjoy making art in the first place is because the communication aspect of art--I love interpreting what pieces of art is trying to say, and I love creating my own message within my own art works. Art to me, is another form of communication, and personally one of my favorite forms of communication--besides music of course! I try to make up for my lack of talent in music with my artistic talents.
So instead of seeing my pieces as "paintings" or "drawings", try to instead see it as visual forms of music...at least that's how I try to see it whenever I'm creating all of my work.
I am still just a student however, so my works and individual style is still in progress!
